Saturday October 12th is the date for this year’s Real 3 Peaks event.
If you’re not familiar with this – it’s the UK’s largest organised littler collection for mountains, and it’s now in its 7th year. It’s a free day out in the hills helping keep them beautiful…..
This is a volunteer led event – a way to give something back and to educate the people we meet along the way – we normally get a great reception and finish with more people than we started with. To date we’ve taken over 3 tonnes of rubbish off the UK’s National 3 Peaks and over the last couple of years we’ve grown to cover other mountains and hills.
We’re always looking for more volunteers to join us, it’s a great way to get out and do a good deed, there’s usually more laughter than yuckiness, (though if you come along I’d strongly advise bringing gloves!) and you don’t have to go all the way to the top – some volunteers just clean the parking areas.
Areas taking part this year are:
Scafell Pike – 3 routes, 1 of them with me!
Snowdon
Ben Nevis
Peak District
Coniston Old Man
Ben Lomond
Roseberry Topping
Great Gable
We’re always keen to hear from anyone wanting to organise another hill local or special to them
The easiest way to get involved is to pop over to the event’s Facebook Page; or feel free to message me and I’ll put you in touch with the regional coordinator.
