Having done the via ferrata guides course last year at Honister Slate Mine it was great to finally be able to take a client over it today.
We had a lazy start as the weather looked a little iffy – but it got better as the day progressed and soon we were there, kitted up & starting the walk up the hill.
It’s a really well designed course – I must have done over 100 in the Alps & Dolomites and this can, in parts, hold its own – certainly the views really do show off a much underrated valley – and as the course keeps you off the cliffs in large parts the flora on display is excellent – certainly some of the best I’ve seen in the lakes – combined with the info boards all around the site – and the fact it finishes virtually at the summit – well its more than just a thrilled filled half day out.
